Our Story

A welder and a schoolteacher with a big dream...

The motel was originally built in 1978 by longtime Darby residents Bud and Shirley who likewise named the it, "Bud and Shirley's Motel."  After running the business for 30 years, Bud and Shirley sold it to a corporation who eventually let the business go unoccupied for several years.

After years of watching the motel slowly become an eyesore in the middle of downtown Darby, Craig and Rachel Neff bought the building and remodeled it into what you see today.  All the metalwork on the building was done by Craig, and the rest of the craftmanship was completed by other Darby residents.

When you stay with us, you're not only supporting a small business- you're supporting a small town, truly locally owned, family business of Darby.

From the bottom of our hearts, we hope you find a home-away-from-home at the Darmont.
